I’m Ashleigh - Mama and Founder of “Parenting that Kid.”

Here’s a little “I’m like you, and you’re like me” meet and greet. My journey o’life is no different than the other mothers showing up with messy buns on their heads, living for tank tops and yoga pants, and finding their mom tribes of sisterhood. Except that I am parenting “that kid,” actually, I am parenting twins, but “that kid” is the reason I am graying before 40.

South Austin is my jam, and ATX in the 90’s is my heart song. I think kombucha should be offered as frequently as water, and nap time should be mandatory once you become a mother. Sarcasm is my love language, but after 8 pm nothing is funny any longer. Physical exercise keeps my sanity, but I’m awful at taking time to recover.  Did I mention physical activity is my sanity? I married my husband in 2008 fresh in my 20’s and although we both say that was not the smartest move of our 20’s, we would not have it any other way. I love him for all his flaws (ok wait, not all of them, he could pick up his socks and he might find more love hiding under them) but it’s our polar opposite-ness in life that help us co-parent “that kid” the best we can.

I’m a huge wellness lover, but don’t worry, I’m doing my part to add chocolate, tacos, and wine to the food pyramid. I’m a believer in the power of plants and a non-toxic lifestyle and have been known from time to time to fling unicorn tears, aka essential oils, on all my fave peeps. I'm a nurse by trade and was blessed to care for the tiniest of humans for many a year. But I put down my stethoscope to focus my energy on my wellness, personal strengths and family, particularly when it comes to my son and his highly sensitive emotional needs.

So that’s it! That’s me in a nutshell, the whole kit ‘n caboodle, the packaged deal...ok I’ll stop!
Welcome, Friend, to Parenting That Kid.
